Congratulations to
the Head Junior Coach Pancha Thamba (pictured right) and
the other Junior squad coaches Chris McAlister and Frank
Preston.
The
MLC
Marlins Swim Team won Junior State 9-12 years.
From the 89 swims approximately 50 times were faster
than the entry times, with some additional long course personal
bests being recorded as well.
Fourteen of the 26 competing swimmers finished in the top
ten.
Of the 41 top ten positions 6 were fly, 4 individual medley,
9 freestyle, 2 backstroke, 14 breaststroke and 8 were relays.
Of the medalists 9 were breaststroke, 5 free, 2 fly, 2 medley
and 1 back.

"Firstly I would like to thank all the swimmers
who've been working hard, individually and and as a team,
to do their personal bests and help us win this carnival.
I would also like to thank the junior coaches, Chris & Frank,
and John Bladon & Steve for helping me in organising
the relay teams (10x50s and 4x50s).
I would also like to highlight some
important points about coaching at this stage of the swimmers'
development.

The coach
has a great opportunity to really set the training
guidelines for
the future age group champions.

It is also important
to follow a philosophy
of long-term development at this stage,
in which the young swimmers are most impressionable and
want to be
accepted at what they do.
