Ryde
Challenge Cup
Congratulation to all the swimmers that competed. This was
the club’s first long course hit out for the season.
The goal of the meet was for the coaching staff to be able
to assess the swimmers and note areas that will require work
through the long course season.
The club finished second behind Ryde and won the prize money
as the host club was excluded.
There were 28 club records broken. Moe Thu Aung our visitor
from The Union of Myanmar also swam her first competition
from the MLC Marlins, winning 3 events and coming second in
one.
The team atmosphere was pleasing. The conduct of the swimmers
in such areas as arriving on time, warm up discipline and
general behavior was very good.
It was a little disappointing for the coaching staff that
some swimmers left the meet early while some others did not
discuss post-race performances with their coaches. Those that
swum all their events and reported back to the coaches afterwards
should be complimented as well as the swimmers that showed
up for training the next day as instructed.
Swimming long meets and backing up afterwards is an important
factor in successfully swimming long events such as Summer
State, National Age and National Open.
Overall the meet was successful, the coaches gain useful
information on a number of swimmers' performances. The number
of personal best swims and club records was pleasing considering
the work the Senior squad swimmers had done prior to the competition.
Well done to the Swimmers of the Month:
